To create more space on the central station of The Hague, a new terminus and starting station for the tramline between Rotterdam and The Hague was build, called Haags Startstation Erasmuslijn (HSE).
The object, designed by Zwart & Jansma Architects, has a length of 82 meters and is placed on an elevated platform, containing railways for two tramlines.
Â
Part of the starting station is a roof construction which, among others, consists of steel arches, in which glass panels are mounted.
Except the geometry of de design, the difficulty of the project lies in the difference of the temperature based expansions of the several parts that occur in opposing directions.
