Aquatic of Nusantara: A facility with three giant aquariums

The Aquatic of Nusantara, in Indonesia, has an area of 6,912 m2. It provides various information about the underwater world that exhibits multiple types of fish and other sea creatures in the archipelago.

The facility has three giant aquariums, each named according to its designation or shape. The Schooling Aquarium has a height of seven meters and a diameter of up to five meters. The beautiful Tunnel Aquarium is three meters high, three meters wide, and forty-eight meters long. The Theater Aquarium has a height of 4.2 meters, a width of ten meters, and a length of 32.5 meters. A touch pool with a tide pool allows visitors to look closely and interact with the fish. The building also houses a marine museum. The existing facilities will introduce fisheries to the broader community.

The Aquatic of Nusantara development structure includes the height of the building, with a roof structure space frame spanning 80 m2. On the ground floor, there is a shear wall.

The project was chosen due to its complex structure, construction time, building quality, costs, and methods. The foundation structure was formed using bored piles with different depths and adjusted to the bearing capacity of the soil at each point. What’s more, the Aquatic of Nusantara is a green building that does not negatively impact the environment during the construction phase or beyond. The Aquatic of Nusantara will be built in the Capital Region of Nusantara (IKN).

The initial design of the Aquatic of Nusantara was planned and outlined in Autocad. The team used Tekla Structures for the structural engineering aspect of the project and Sketchup for architectural design. Grid Creation was conducted in Tekla Structures software with a reference model imported from AutoCAD drawing. The substructure model includes the foundation, roof, and floor slab was conducted in Tekla Structures. We then export the model to Sketchup to create the facades. The Aquatic of Nusantara was designed as a green building with a modern concept that combines concrete and steel.
