Amager Bakke (Copenhill) is a new waste treatment facility situated in Copenhagen that is scheduled for commissioning in 2017. Amager Bakke will provide Copenhagen with one of the world’s most modern and environmentally friendly waste-to-energy plants, incl. 11 office floors. However, the project will most likely be recognized for its creation of a functional ski slope along the building’s roof. The roof will be fully accessible to the public, with the added potential to climb, run and hike from the ground and up the 85 meter high building. The building will become one of the highest buildings in Copenhagen and will be a significant landmark for the city.
MOE was engaged on this project from the start of concept design and has subsequently developed the buildings unique features with the architect and client. The conceptual design was fully completed before the leading contractors were brought into the project.
