Wanda Vista - 2018 Tekla North American BIM Awards

Vista Tower Chicago, at almost 1,200 feet tall, will become the third tallest building in Chicago when complete. The 95-story, 1.9 million square foot glass and concrete tower will house luxury residences and the 5-star Wanda Vista Hotel. The main structure sits atop a 5-level podium and the main structure includes four towers that drop off on levels 11, 47, 71, and then the top at level 95. The largest challenge of the project was implementing the dynamic stepping form of the building's facade. This step created a variable that needed to be coordinated at every floor. The team used Tekla to properly located and confirm that the various stepping elements are correct prior to each concrete pour. Additionally, the team used Tekla Structures to model the stepping column reinforcement to both confirm the design was installed correctly and request revisions to the reinforcement design to ease installation. Vote now, public voting will close on June 22nd.! https://www.tekla.com/us/bim-awards/projects
