2017 UK Tekla Award hot shots
Once again, our customers have done us proud and have produced another batch of projects that were exemplary in their use of Tekla Structures. To quote Richard Fletcher, Trimble Solutions UK MD, There are a lot of talented users of Tekla software out there and this year’s entries are excellent
, and we agree. The quality of models entered were an excellent example of how Tekla Structures should be used. We we’re just sad we couldn’t reward everyone that entered.
As all the winners had worked so hard on their submissions, we wanted to make sure they had a great time celebrating their victory. Last year, we gave our winners an archery and target shooting taster day, with a nice three course lunch to finish. This year, we thought we’d get a little more serious about the fun side, so decided on some competitive clay pigeon shooting.
On Thursday 27th July, our competition winners and just a few folk from Trimble, dressed for the weather and met at the Park Lodge Shooting School (www.parklodgeshootingschool.co.uk) in the small village of Cowick, for a day of shooting and eating. After a bacon butty and a safety briefing, everyone had some one-to-one tuition from experienced coaches before being let loose on a variety of clay pigeon traps to practice their newly gained skills.
It has to be said, that everyone did pretty well for first timers and even managed to hit a few clays with a little help from the coaching team. A couple of individuals really shone out during the day though, especially during the competition shoot held at the end of the day, when Chelsea Devlin of Icarus hit more clays than any of the other ladies present and Ben McWilliams of Total steelwork & Fabrication Ltd got ten out ten. But the top company for points overall went to the guys at FP McCann, Colin McKenzie and Nick Bell who put in a near perfect score.
All in all, despite the rain, we had a great mornings shooting followed by a lovely meal and the presentation of the winner’s awards!
Well done to everyone that walked away with a prize and we’re looking forward to seeing what you all produce next year!
