The project is a one-off luxury build for a golf enthusiast, the clients new residence is located on a plot overlooking to the final hole on the Oake Manor Golf Course. The project has been designed specifically to allow for the client to tee off from the roof onto the golf course or hold a golf shooting range day from the roof.
The structure is complex in its design being partly circular in design with large panoramic and open corner windows, that where designed to take the external finish above the opening.
What were the challenges and what made the project successful?
With the clients requirement above this has its own inherent designs problems such as working to the increased loadings onto the roof and the open plan nature of the structure pushes the boundaries of the light steel frame and hot rolled steel designs. This project incorporates large curved bay windows to inset balconies and large open plan rooms each with its own design & engineering challenges that have been overcome by the knowledge and understanding of the DACS design team. BIM model sharing with the client has been key so the client gets a good indication of what will be delivered so that the design brief and clients expectations can be achieved.
