We was contracted to detail the full steel package for the new platform at Derby Station which included:- Full Length Canopy, Lift Shafts, Station Buildings & Waiting Rooms. Â
What were the challenges and what made the project successful.
This project was challenging due to the setting out of the steelwork to follow the rail track positions. The project was set out using global co-ordinates to ensure our model was accurate to the global position. This also aided design meetings when we was able to share our model with the consultants for cross checking with their model.
What benefits utilizing BIM and Tekla Software brought to the project.
The benefits of using Tekla was being able to model share with the client. Sharing the model made it very easy for us to import/export various models for cross checking purposes. Also as the model was set out to global co-ordinates it made it very easy to share any co-ordinates with the site team.
