Augmented and Mixed Reality in Construction

Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality in construction are no longer concepts for the future. Like many other forms of intelligent technology that have found their way into construction, the industry has already started utilizing AR/MR in order to get people and machines to seamlessly interact together for a much more efficient outcome. Augmented Reality (AR) combines the real world, typically by laying digital interfaces on top of the physical world. Mixed reality (MR) is the extended version of augmented reality, where real-world and digital objects can interact in a more immersive way, for example, through Trimble HoloLens. There has always been a huge gap in trying to digitize the construction workflow, whether it is to get project information in real-time, project planning, or collaboration between teams in the office and at the site. In our upcoming webinar, we will give you some examples of how AR/MR can be utilized to merge office and field workflows by showcasing how digital models (from Tekla Software) can be taken and interacted with at the construction site. Plus, we will also demonstrate to automate the data collection process from the site using other advanced Trimble robotics.
