2016 North American BIM Awards - Biomass CHP

The Albany Green Energy (AGE) Biomass Combined Heat and Power (CHP) project is located in Albany, GA. This will be a state of the art CHP generating facility utilizing woody biomass for its fuel source which is a renewable resource and a green power solution. The facility uses a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boiler that will provide the highest combustion efficiency while producing the least amount of uncontrolled emissions. The steam generated by the boiler will be used by a steam turbine generator (STG) to produce 42 megawatts of power for sale to the electrical grid. In addition to power generation, steam will be sold to a local tissue products company offsetting less efficient and higher emitting boilers for manufacturing at their facility.
