Mexican Pyramids in Modern Steel Structures

The project is a representative work, which tries to summarize the culture of our nation, unifying past and present in three different edifications: two pyramids at real scale and a helicoidal tower.

Regarding the past, it’s found a pyramid from Teotihuacán and another one from Chichen Itza. The first one was chosen because it represents the core of our country concerning as the foundation of our pre-Hispanic past. Its height consists of 35 meters, it was developed mainly by steel joists and it has incorporated an underground tunnel of 80 meters length.

Chichen Itza pyramid was chosen due to the great contribution the Mayan culture has had to our country and the rest of the world. This pyramid has 53 meters of height, developed mainly by trusses which have a length of almost 25 meters, and walls of reinforced concrete as well.

Referring to the present, it was chosen a helicoidal tower, being today one of the most extravagant vertical edifications immerse of geometric beauty, all that in order to represent the sagacity and ingenuity of our people. The structure has a height of 100 meters; it consists of steel frames and a system of tilt-up walls on its center for its elevator.

The elements and systems implemented consist of structural steel and deep foundations, since the highly seismic ground of our country. The pyramids conserve their form and dimensions, but their structural and construction systems are at the forefront. Furthermore, it was taken a wide number of elements and systems in the representation of the richness of our culture.
