Design, manufacture and installation of circa 2000m of stainless & galvanised mild steel feature balustrades complete with stainless steel wire rope and Iroko handrail as part of Belfast's Connswater Community Greenway Project.
What were the challenges and made the project succesful?
The biggest challenge was delivering the design brief over such a long and undulating landscape. With Tekla Structures we were able to pinpoint precisely where all the peaks and troughs where. firstly we imported all the survey information into Tekla. From this baseline we were able to plot every single points to position the handrail posts (we had approx. 1200 bespoke posts to design/fabricate & install) and smooth out the erratic curves driven by the finished floor levels of the cycle paths and walkways.
Benefits of using BIM and Tekla Structures?
This project would have been impossible to deliver without Tekla and the integration of other BIM models to seamlessly replicate the built environment months ahead of in-situ terrain.
