Join Trimble to discover more about algorithmic design using Tekla software and Rhino/Grasshopper.

Digital Data provides a basis for rethinking the structural engineering design process and with the addition of increased computing power, this combination is beneficial to a computational data driven process helping engineers work more efficiently with closer data driven collaboration.

The Institute of Structural Engineers is hosting a Trimble industry workshop. The workshop will focus on the Grasshopper-Tekla live link which enables algorithmic modelling for Tekla Structures using Rhino/Grasshopper. The link is a set of Grasshopper components that can create and interact with objects live in Tekla Structures.  We will also look at how a Tekla Structural Designer model can be driven parametrically using Grasshopper.

The day will be divided into a series of presentations and demonstrations during the morning. During the afternoon, there will be interactive demo workshops providing an opportunity to delve deeper into the software with Trimble's experts. 

Session 1 
David Sanderson will discuss the "Parametric and Generative Design - why its important, future visions and workflows". This session will further look at digital data and how it provided a basis for rethinking the structural engineering processes.
Session 2 
A demo focused session, Sebastian Lindholm will explore "How engineers can reduce time spent on generating complex geometry and design details". This session will explain how engineers using Tekla Structures and Grasshopper can quickly realise the architect's vision early on in the design stage, this helps reduce time and errors while increasing work productivity. 
Session 3
Arup's Gordon Clannachan will talk about Arups approach to algorithmic design and how Tekla & Grasshopper has influenced and changed their business for the better.
Session 4
Dr Stuart Gale will present on "Tekla Structural Designer and parametric modelling" with an overview of the Grasshopper and TSD live link, parametric and generative workflows and a look ahead to the next generation of the Grasshopper-TSD live link.
