Welcome to the Trimble European BIM Forum 2016 on September 22.-23. in Warsaw, Poland. Insightful presenations and discussions will create an inspiring forum for construction industry decision makers and influencer to network.
Technology, digital tools and modern processes together, not forgetting the human aspect, all have great impact in the industry and challenge old ways and methods. This one and a half day event focuses on three aspects affecting the digital change in our industry:

Former Mighty Eagle, Rovio Entertainment Ltd.
Peter Vesterbacka is the Former Mighty Eagle of Rovio Entertainment, the creator of the wildly successful Angry Birds franchise and over 50 other games. In June 2016 Peter step aside from the company lead and remain as shareholder and focus on Fun Learning and pushing Fun Academy and Lightneer to new heights, over time he expects to transform education globally.
Peter’s role was to lead special commercial projects, in particular in emerging markets. Prior to Rovio, Peter worked for HP in several communicationsindustry related roles. While at HP, Peter founded the HP Mobile EServices Bazaar, a global innovation and corporate partnership program that Booz Allen Hamilton declared an industry benchmark. Peter is also Cofounder and the original initiator of MobileMonday as well as the founder of Some Bazaar, a new approach to building and growing new businesses. In 2011 Time Magazine recognized Peter as one of the most influential people in the World in their TIME 100 Listing.
is co-founder of Ingenieursbureau Verhoeven en Leenders bv, since 1995 a Dutch SME specialized in design, calculation and modeling for building structures and infrastructure. Leon has a Bachelors architectural degree, and has attended various academic trainings over the years. As a representative of the Dutch BIM Expert Network of NL ingenieurs (the trade association of consulting firms) Leon has participated in several BIM-related knowledge development paths, which have been completed together with support from both the public and private sectors.
Currently Leon participates in the development of a measurement tool for BIM Maturity (research conducted by University of Twente).
He is very active in the open BIM playing field and as a strong supporter (and member) of buildingSMART, he will address the audience with specific info how he implemented Information Delivery Specification according to Dutch Common BIM Requirements.
is a Professor in Construction ICT & BIM, Programme Director of the MSc. in Building Information Modelling & Integrated Design, and Director of Postgraduate Research Admissions and Training within the School of the Built Environment at the University of Salford.
He is also Director of Construct IT For Business, an industry-led non-profit making collaborative membership-based network. Jason’s background is a combination of civil/structural engineering and construction ICT with over twenty years research experience in the area of concurrent engineering, integrated and collaborative computing in construction, product and building information modelling, and organisational e-readiness towards delivering strategic value from ICT investment through involvement in both UK and EU funded research projects, on which he has published extensively.
In relation to BIM particularly, his interest is focused towards BIM implementation and deployment, maturity assessment, education and training in the development of BIM capabilities along with bringing together the concept of organizational e-readiness with BIM. At a national level Jason is actively engaged in the Education & Training working group to deliver the UK Government BIM strategy and Scottish BIM Delivery Academia Group, member of the Behaviours4Collaboration Group, and the present Chair of the UK BIM Academic Forum.
He is also engaged at a local level with the Northwest BIM Hub of the UK Government BIM Strategy and the Northwest Construction Hub BIM Special Interest Group. Jason is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of 3D Information Modelling (IJ3DIM) specifically focused on BIM along with 3D GIS and their integration.
Ástríður Elín Ásgeirsdóttir
Ástríður has in the last 9 years, functioned as designer and developer in the BIM program Tekla. Ástríður is on highly qualified specialist level, through the usage, developing and setups of Tekla, both in the model and drawings. Ástríður has developed a great special knowledge in the field of BIM, through projects and optimization of BIM processes on projects.
Ástríður has in recent years worked as Technical director of BIM | Tekla, and now as Corporate Technical director BIM | Tekla, where the function is to develop BIM and Tekla, as well as training, maintenance and development of BIM processes in MOE. At MOE Ástríður has been a big part of showing how the digital building models can streamline the workflow and how it can meet the special challenges in complex buildings such as the Danish aquarium, “The Blue Planet”. And she has especially played a significant role in the design of Amager Bakke, who MOE recently won a Tekla Global BIM Award for, in the category Industrial Buildings.
Ástríður has great experience of structural designing. The last 9 years, with designing steel structures and steel details in 3D. Both as conceptual design and as execution of shop drawings in 3D.
Furthermore, Ástríður has experience of designing concrete and reinforcement in 3D. Both as conceptual design and by established cut and bending list for ordering, in 3D.
is Civil/Structural engineer since 1996 and with ThyssenKrupp he has been working since 2003. Lead Engineer CSA for several international chemical plants. In 2012 first contact with Tekla BIM solutions; since 2014 intense use for all project phases (bid, basic & detail engineering); BIM administrator with focus on interoperability and utilization of model data.
Head of BIM Department and BIM expert from St. Petersburg, Russia. BIM Leader of the year in Russia. Ph.D. in Computer Science. 2014 – 2016 - member of WERFAU company which manages the biggest hospital project in Russia (in Krasnoyarsk) wholly in BIM (Best Project of 2016) and an expert of the Ministry of Construction to promote BIM as Russian National Standard.
2013 – 2014 - member of PMO at SPb Renovation project in St. Petersburg (8 mln. sq. m. of residential buildings) with complex design of whole parts of the project only in BIM technology.
2009 – 2013 – member of Softline Company. Top 3 in Russian global IT list. Consulting, project & product management around BIM & optimization.
Solid experience of participating in big multidisciplinary projects with collaboration of international BIM teams and managing high-end design, verification and simulations software.
Kirsi came to WSP in 2002 as a Development Director. Later on, she was appointed to operative management tasks and in 2011, she began as a Managing Director of the company. Along the way, she dealt with sales in Europe. She gained a large amount of international experience while living and working in Germany for eight years, in Hungary for four years and a couple of years in Estonia. She get energy for her job from WSP employees' incredible expertise and enthusiasm. As a Managing Director, she has a dream - to make the eyes of each member of the WSP team spark.
is the Solution manager of BIM/VDC Implementation in Consolis where he works with bridging the gap between development, processes and the end users to further the implementation of BIM and VDC at Consolis business units. He is a senior level member of the team working with the implementation of the very ambitious Consolis group project “50 5 18” aiming at 50% of Consolis projects shall be 5D BIM projects by the end of 2018.
Before joining the Consolis BIM/VDC team Tobias held the position of BIM Manager at Strängbetong, the leading supplier of pre-cast concrete solution in Sweden, for four years. During his time at Strängbetong more than 1000 projects were carried out using Tekla Structures including high profile projects such as Emporia shopping centre, Mall of Scandinavia and Friends Arena. Both Mall of Scandinavia and Friends Arena are Tekla Structures reference projects.
Jaakko Jauhiainen, Director, Business Development, at Sweco PM works in business development and strategy. Responsibilities in Sweco PM Ltd include business strategy, strategy process and business development. Jaakko Jauhiainen is a Member of the management board. In addition, Jaakko carries out business development tasks for Sweco Finland including intelligent building design and management process, sales and internal efficiency.
Areas of current interest include creating services that enhance customer value, internal efficiency, competitive advantage and differentiation, create new business opportunities and services for the lifecycle of the building employing new technology including VR, AR, VDC and BIM. Jaakko Jauhiainen has a M.Sc. and an eMBA from the Aalto University. Previously Jauhiainen has worked in various entrepreneurial setups, building new businesses. Jauhiainen has made a successful exit. Before Sweco Jaakko worked for Solibri, Inc. Responsibilities included strategy, sales, marketing and channels globally. Jaakko was also member of the corporate management team and a member of the global management team.
Wayne provides over 30 years of diverse structural experience and has specialized in precast concrete design and detailing on numerous projects throughout North America, including parking garages, total precast buildings, stadiums and architectural precast cladding projects. Wayne is very active in the Canadian and U.S. Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institutes, is a member of PCI’s Technical Activities Council overseeing all of the PCI’s technical activities, and is a member of the Canadian Reinforced Concrete Design Code and the Precast Concrete Materials and Construction Standards. In addition, Wayne oversees the precast plant certification auditing program for CPCI certified plants across Canada.
In 2001 Wayne participated in the Precast Concrete Software Consortium to advance 3D modelling software for the North American precast industry. Since 2005, Wayne has been a key proponent of implementing BIM in precast projects and has successfully implemented BIM technology on numerous precast/prestressed projects throughout North America for more than 10 years.
Marcin Dominiak is a Structural Engineer, a Graduate Member of The Institution of Structural Engineers. He is a Tekla detailer in Constravia, Polish precast concrete structure design out in front. He is responsible for model’s correctness, structural analysis and element’s resistance, detailing connections. Martin is interested in automation of repeatable design tasks. With international experience gained in Waterman Structures Ltd. in Birmingham. He is a former member of Structural Engineering MSc studies at Poznan University of Technology, conducted in English.
Jason Hyde is a Chartered Civil Engineer working for Mott MacDonald in Manchester (UK). He is also a Civil Designer for the AECOM Mott MacDonald JV on the Northern Hub Project. He has 5+ years’ experience in the design, assessment, strengthening, modification and construction of structures (principally in the bridges sector). His work has involved highway, railway and light rail infrastructure projects both in the UK and Europe at all stages of projects. Jason is responsible for BIM in his local office and more recently has taken on the role of BIM Champion for the UK Western Division of Mott MacDonald.
Jason is also an Executive Committee Member for the British Group of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE) and Chair for the Manchester (UK) Branch of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
Arturs Neiburgs is the Head of R&D of Structural Engineering Department. He has been working for UPB for nine years. While his career started as a designer, he quickly became the team leader for the civil engineer department for precast structures. Currently he leads R&D projects for the company, mainly focusing on engineering development, process improvement and automation, product improvements and new product design. The the session will be presented jointly with Arturs Seilis, Head of Business Development Department of UPB.
