Automated Minimum Wind Loads (ASCE7) in Tekla Structural Designer

Accurately applying Wind Loading to structures is an extremely critical task for an Engineer to perform accurately and fully in compliance with building code. The application of Wind Loading however is not as black-and-white as say the application of Dead or Live loading. TSD fully automates the application of Wind Loading using either the Directional Procedure or the Envelope Procedure, and Engineers are typically confident with the requirement to design the MWFRS with the loads mandated by either of these procedures. It can however be easily overlooked that ASCE also has a clause which requires a Minimum Design Wind Load. Using the Automated Minimum Wind Load feature in TSD, Engineers can be assured they are fully meeting the building code mandated requirements and designing safe structures.
