Precast construction offers a long list of advantages such as cost savings, time savings, quality enhancements, less labour intensive, enhanced safety, pro-sustainability as it reduces wastage as well as pollution caused by the more traditional construction methods. Looking at these benefits, one would presume that precast construction would be the default ‘go-to’ option for most projects but it is yet to reach that stage!

Having said that, precast construction has been witnessing a steady growth, both, in awareness and in adoption across a variety of construction projects in the past few years, brought to the forefront by the challenges of the pandemic period. With this, the adoption of digital construction technologies have also found an impetus, without which, precast construction would not be profitable.

So where does precast construction stand as a methodology in the Indian market today, what are the latest methods and technologies available, and more importantly, what does the future of precast construction in India look like?
