Project consisting of an office building, commercial premises and car workshop
The Soho Montemar project consists of an office building, commercial premises and car workshop located in the upper part of Concón, V Region.
The building has 6 underground and 17 overground floors. It is structured with double T-type steel beams, concrete slabs with a collaborative plate, square HSS steel columns filled with concrete, and a reinforced concrete core.Â
The motivation of the principal to use steel structures began with an architectural problem, since the reinforced concrete columns of the project were too large for what was needed; the use of steel was analyzed, which resulted in smaller columns (it went down from 100x100cm to 45x45cm). Then the entire project became steel, except for the reinforced concrete core to control the deformations imposed by our seismic regulations. As a result of the project, a cleaner design was obtained in terms of the use of space, with costs slightly lower than its equivalent in reinforced concrete, but with a larger saleable area (offices and parking lots), and shorter deadlines.
