The railway project in Italy consists of two main works. First, there’s the reorganization of the Ferrara to Rimini track and the Ferrara to Codigoro track. Then there’s the construction of a new connection between the Ferrara to Rimini track and the Ferrara to Suzzara track.Â
Codigoro represents the unification of railway lines. Two lines exiting  Ferrara railway station are heading towards the Codigoro (FER line) and Ravenna and Rimini (RFI line). The project solves the issue of railway tracks interfering with the road network in the city of Ferrara.

Advantages of using BIM
The geometric complexity and modularity of the work have oriented us on the combined use of Tekla Structures and Grasshopper. Thanks to the link between the two software packages, it was possible to use input data from the infrastructure design carried out in Civil Designer to generate the main structures of the linear work.
The use of Tekla Structures has been fundamental for studying the management of the interferences with the subservices and the existing practicability of the constructive phases of the work.
