The metal emergency staircases and the connection between two twin pairs of masonry buildings are part of the wider enhancement of the former Tobacco Factory of Bari, destined to house the new headquarters of the CNR.
A metal structure has been planned to be - apart from the base at zero altitudes for the starting ramp - connected only to the masonry bodies facing each other, through niches of housing and sinking, subsequently restored.
The structure was modeled in Tekla Structures, exported to Modest for calculation, and finally detailed in Tekla. Although it was made for an executive project, the model is already ready for the extraction of construction drawings during construction, which is currently in the tender phase.
Advantages of using BIM
The modeling and production elaborated through Tekla have already enabled planning the exact identification of the work to realize in the context of the two historical buildings.
