Extension of meat processing facilities
The project concerns the extension of meat processing facilities.
The most ecological slaughterhouse in the world was launched at the end of 2015. Now, more than 4 years later, Westfort, opposite the slaughterhouse, will significantly expand the existing meat processing department. In addition, a fully automated and integrated cold store is being implemented.
To make room for expansion, the old Van Vliet Transport building was demolished by Umias B.V., and Schimmel Oudewater BV prepared the ground for construction, after which Bunnik Bouw began work. Bunnik Bouw is responsible for the implementation of the construction.
During construction, PROMAD fully supervised the implementation of the new building.
The total extension has an area of about 40,000 m2 divided into five floors. As with slaughterhouses and current meat processing, this extension will have a parking deck that can accommodate about 250 cars. The cold store is fully robotic. The packaged meat is sent to the cold store and comes out sorted at pallet level. Thanks to this, Weestfort implements a very advanced cold store that will be known throughout the world.
