Tekla Structures was used for the structural design and documentation of the steel structures for the continuous casting technology in the iron foundry, including auxiliary and service structures of related technologies. Tekla was also the main tool used for design and workshop documentation, including the structural design of the main casting platform structure, adjacent service platforms, several crane beams, and new platforms built into the existing structure of the iron foundry.
The main structure consists of the casting platform, which is supported by a system of columns made of hot-rolled sections. This support structure also supports the rolling strands and service or maintenance platforms along the cooling chamber. The cooling chamber is enclosed on the sides by stainless steel sheet walls, which serve as heat protection and prevent the penetration of steam outside the cooling chamber. Other secondary structures serve, for example, as supports for the segment drives or as access to other technologies.
The main structure is nestled into the existing building, for which several new platforms, and structures, including the necessary reinforcement of existing elements, have been designed. Access ladders or staircases between the platforms are part of the whole structure. The covering of the platforms is made up of grating or checkered plates. The entire structure is painted, and the grating and stair treads are galvanized. The weight of the whole structure is 683 t.
