Ciudadela Universitaria project will generate 8,000 new places of higher education for the city
Ciudadela Universitaria is a project promoted by the municipality of Medellin, Colombia, built by the public entity company of urban development known in Spanish as EDU. This project is very impactful due to its contemporary design that respond to new pedagogical models and constructive methods of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It will generate 8,000 new places of higher education for the city and, at the same time, increase public space for the 12th and 13th communes.
Its construction was carried out by the consortium CCU 2018-SP of real estate agency AIA Architects. The manufacture and assembly of the steel structure was undertaken by the company Doblamos S.A.
The project has approximately 1,800 tons of structural steel, distributed throughout 13 main buildings. It was all drawn using Tekla. This is the first public BIM project made in MedellÃn. The company of urban development (EDU) as executor of the project participated as both architectural specifier and BIM coordinator.
