Arabian International Company (AIC), who has fabricated over a million tons of steel since 1994, receives trophies and certificates from Paul Wallett, Trimble Solutions Regional Area Director, Middle East and India, for public and industrial categories, Riyadh Metro Project - Western Station, and Yamama Cement Factory, respectively.

"It is a pleasure to have one of the leading players in the industry like AIC Steel, as a customer for over a decade," said Paul Wallett, "we take pride in realizing the contributions of our software and services. We aspire to continue developing and upgrading our 3D BIM solution 'Tekla Structures' to support AIC and all our clients in their projects."

AIC has been using Trimble's (NASDAQ: TRMB) 3D BIM Software for over 14 years now and has utilized Tekla Software in most of their major projects since then. Speaking with Mr. Mohamed Ezzat - PMP, Technical Support Head, AIC Steel, he mentioned: "The reason behind sticking with Tekla for almost all our projects is simply because its easy to use, and extremely user-friendly. Even though Tekla executes the most complicated tasks, its interface makes it exceptionally stress-free for the user to perform."

Speaking about complex structures, the following are the two noteworthy projects by AIC that were submitted for the 2018 Tekla BIM Awards Middle East.

RIYADH METRO PROJECT - WESTERN STATION

Western Station is the most iconic structure in Riyadh metro stations. It is one of four iconic structures in Riyadh metro stations. The design for this remarkable 110.000m2  project aimed to be a catalyst for urban development, demonstrating a design reflective of local culture and heritage.

"Tekla Structures played a great role in the success of this project because of its powerful 3D modeling, huge connection library, and no fit-up issues. Using our internally developed plugins in Tekla, helped AIC Steel immensely in facilitating and accelerating our modeling, drawings and fabrication workflow,"  added Mohamed Ezzat - PMP, Technical Support Head, AIC.

YAMAMA SAUDI CEMENT FACTORY

Yamama Saudi Cement Company project consisted of two turnkey cement production lines with a total capacity of 20,000 tons. The project is set to consist of new technologies to rationalize power consumption that meets the requirements of the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC). The project has been designed to consume the power of less than 800 thermal units per ton of clinker and less than 100 KW/hour for one ton of cement.

The main challenge in this project was that the model of the ducts and plate work had to be created from scratch; and they weren't traditional straight normal ducts, in fact, they were inclined 3D complex structures. Furthermore, the creation of the plates, as well as the fully detailed fabrication drawings, were also something that was quite complex and perhaps, wouldn't have been possible without the use of Tekla Structures.

The Riyadh Metro Project and the Yamama Cement Factory are just two examples of the kind of structures AIC’s client's trust they can manage. There are a number of other mega-projects that AIC has taken on; like the Madinah Airport and the Mall of Oman to name a few.

"It is not just because Tekla Software is a very powerful tool for steel structures and that its connection catalog covers a lot of connection details, but the fact that the software's open API feature offers us the flexibility to design/customize tools for our projects, plus the valuable support we get at every step from Trimble's technical team, helps us in making the impossible, possible." Mohamed Ezzat - PMP, Technical Support Section Head, AIC
