PROJECT
The project is a new City Centre for Majid Al Futtaim in Sharja with a 3, 80, 000m² covered area, which will be constructed in the emirate of Sharjah, UAE. The project’s site is located on the north-east corner of the intersection of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed & the University Road. The mall will accommodate between its walls several key anchor & flagship stores, restaurants, and public entertainment facilities. The scheme includes a hotel and serviced apartment connected to the mall.
The project’s sustainability goal is to design a sustainable project that will comply with the LEED system’s requirements; which has achieved “GOLD” rating certification level. The project’s sustainability objectives stem from the client’s Corporate Sustainability Policy, which represents their business culture and commitment towards creating sustainable development in the emirate of Sharjah. The same values that we uphold in Khatib and Alami design and business practices. The project design considered energy efficiency and outdoor/indoor comfort levels for future occupants, with both passive and active design measures, optimized natural daylight consideration in the concourse areas, very high water conservation and recycling targets, as well as very efficient energy utilization and other quantifiable sustainability targets, which are incorporated as part of the project’s sustainability KPI’s.
The project is expected to open for the public in Early 2020.
Galadari Engineering is responsible for Design, Detailing, Fabrication, and Erection of Entrance Canopy which consists of 1,200Ton of Steel with 140meter length and 46meter width. The Wave Shape of Canopy roof makes it different from traditional Canopy designs and makes its look more appealing. In addition to that, the canopy roof is supported with columns like tree branches. It has enhanced the attractiveness of the entire mall.
CHALLENGE AND SUCCESS
The Sharjah City Centre Canopy had a very different design. It has columns with branches and sub-branches of pipes with reducing the radius. The branch pipes in itself consisted of a unique methodology of design and fabrication as the radios throughout from top to bottom was different and continuously changing.
Talking about the roof of the canopy that was also a complex structure as it required a unique design to maintain its wave shape. The canopy roof is arresting on Column Branches. The roof is of box sections of 600*200*12 size. The shape of the Canopy roof is continuously changing.
WHY TEKLA
