The Construction Summit

Irrespective of the complexity of a building that is being constructed, any project would need to go through a construction lifecycle. This process involves many companies specializing in different segments of that lifecycle coming together which can bring about a lot of challenges.  Some of these may include keeping up with deadlines, making sure errors and cost are at a minimum, interoperability with multiple project partners software and where there are challenges, we see a World of Possibilities.

With many uncertainties about oil prices, economic stability, etc., the construction industry will eventually be impacted and these factors will have a big influence on companies investing in the industry.  These challenges will be addressed at The Construction Summit by leaders in the industry.

The Construction Summit, now in its second year, will be beneficial to those interested in the best practices of carrying out a successful project. The 2015 event gathered over 100 attendees that included government officials from RTA, DEWA, Dubai Municipality, TECOM as well as top-level management from the region’s best construction firms.

The summit is open to top-level managers and decision-makers from companies specialized in architecture, engineering, design, manufacturing, software, facilities management, etc.

The Construction Summit 2016

The Constuction Summit Agenda 2016

8:30 / 9:15   Registration
9:15 / 9:25   Opening Keynote Welcome note
9:25 / 10:55 Market Insight   Construction market in GCC region is changing rapidly. With low oil prices, regional conflicts, increasing government deficits throwing new challenges to construction players. On other side, projects in pipeline like expo, FIFA world cup and other infra projects offers opportunities. Amid uncertainties, its very important to get hold of accurate market situations and information to plan future strategies about adopting construction technologies, cost management and industry trends.
10:55 / 11:15 Coffee break Networking
11:15 / 11:55 Concept & Planning   The concept design represents the design teams initial response to the project brief. Various tasks are needed to be performed at this stage like architectural design, structural design, services design etc. and Building Information Modeling has a big role to play here. Creating BIM model which may also include drawings, reports, spaces, systems and facilities will be of great use to get visualization and walk through with all stake holders and client.
11:55 / 12:25 Panel Discussion/
12:25 / 13:30 Engineering & Design    In today's competitive and complex construction projects, consultants need to ensure that they produce most optimized and profitable designs for their clients.

Moving towards BIM based design, calculations production allows Engineering firms to get much needed automations, productivity, accuracy and be able to manage changes effectively throughout project life cycle.

Collaboration with other stake holders during design stage is equally important to make sure highest level of design coordination is achieved among various disciplines and share the quality information generated at design stage. Whole efforts now a days are towards efficient error free designs, maximizing profits and satisfying client expectations.
13:30 / 14:15 Lunch break Networking
14:15 / 15:20 Estimation and Bidding    Estimation and bidding are most important phases of the construction projects.

Solutions are available by which one can quickly create conceptual models and generate accurate quantities for estimation, visualize structural solutions that meet your manufacturing and company standards and then present the optimal solution to your client.

Precise quantity take off reduces risks when bidding and model-based working helps you ensure that project can be built efficiently in terms of time, cost and safety. Need of the time is to go for Model-based working helps you manage risk, win more bids and grow profits.

The tools that replace the traditional methods to plan and budget your projects in a historical manner that allows better estimate projects bids to overcome the ambiguous project budgets which affects every single party in the project life cycle.
15:20 / 15:40 Coffee break Networking
15:40 / 16:40 Construction    For contractors the most important things is to manage risks, plan for successful construction and deliver highest quality project within timeline. Here we will be focusing about the technical processes and workflow, lessons learned and implementation strategies for contractors in using BIM for the construction site.

If you detect and avoid problems before construction begins, you minimize expensive delay and rework. Design insight and project predictability from preconstruction to execution delivers more effective planning, coordination and control.

If you detect and avoid problems before construction begins, you minimize expensive delay and rework. Design insight and project predictability from preconstruction to execution delivers more effective planning, coordination and control.

Adopting latest Construction tools, processes, workflows and technology assures successful project delivery. Increase efficiency, reduce construction project risk, control project costs, and provide complete transparency to project stakeholders. Technology can Bring the entire project team together, automate construction processes, reduce project cost, increase user adoption within the organization, make decisions quickly using up-to-date project data, increase efficiency by enabling interoperability.

How about sending construction data from office to the field and back in office for as-built..

Technology solutions for building layout and scanning are designed with the construction contractor at the center of the workflow, to ensure reliable service and streamlined performance. We will have some insights on powerful tools that let you take control of your job site and simplify the layout of concrete forms, footers, and anchor bolts. Easily capture existing condition data for accurate adaptive reuse and renovation construction planning and design.
16:40 / 17:05 Panel Discussion/
17:05 / 17:45 Facility Management (Manage, operate and Handover)    Covering the application of BIM for FM (facility management) on how to link external data and knowledge capture to the as-built BIM model that can support facilities management. BIM data is extremely suitable for planned maintenance. Is BIM data suitable for management data? Can we use this BIM data in a multi-year maintenance plan and for facility management? The answer to these questions is a resounding yes! Learn more from the different industry experts and solutions how to utilize the BIM data in managing and operating buildings. Get to know what are the different benefits while using BIM in the operation stage.
