Tekla and the 2018 World Cup
It’s that time again! The whole world is cheering for their favorite football team as the 2018 World Cup kicks off in Russia.
Spectacular stadiums around the globe
World championships need world-class construction, and Tekla Structures has been a game changer when it comes to the creation of many of the world’s top stadiums. Our constructible, highly accurate building information models support the entire workflow from design to manufacturing, and from construction to maintenance.
Tekla’s BIM technology and tools were used in the construction of 8 of the 12 2018 World Cup stadiums. With structural BIM workflow contractors, design and installation project members delivered high quality work while meeting their deadlines.
- Spartak Stadium, home to FC Spartak Moscow, has the capacity for 45 000 visitors. Its façade features hundreds of interlinking chainmail-like diamonds, which represent the Spartak logo. The façade can be changed depending on which teams are playing.
- St. Petersburg Stadium – known as Zenit Arena when not hosting the World Cup -- can seat 68 000 spectators. Its “spaceship design” and 286-meter-wide retractable roof are two of the structure’s most fascinating features.
- Mordovia Arena in Saransk is able to host 44 000 visitors. The stadium, which features unique geometry and a large number of welded connections, resembles a bright red sun – one of the symbols of the Republic of Mordovia.
- Volgograd Arena can host 45 000 visitors. The cabled roof and meshed exterior are the standout features of the arena.
