Tekla Energy Days 2012 (TED12) were held in Berlin on June 13–14. The two-day seminar was organized in cooperation with Vattenfall. The event gathered together energy distribution professionals from several countries to exchange information, share experiences and create contacts.  

Energy distribution professionals gathered in Berlin on June 13–14 for Tekla Energy Days 2012 (TED12). The two-day seminar was organized in cooperation with Tekla’s valued customer Vattenfall. The event venue was the conference hotel Holiday Inn Berlin Airport.

The theme of the seminar was ‘Perfect Match’ emphasizing interoperability between Tekla’s modular software offering and other systems used by Tekla’s customers. The seminar program consisted of lectures on various topics in the field of energy distribution.

After opening and welcome speeches by Vattenfall’s Technology Director Thomas Schäfer and Tekla’s Energy & Water Director Pekka Hämäläinen, the Head of Unit Markku Hyvärinen from Helen Sähköverkko Oy gave a lecture on Sustainable energy future and distribution networks.

Before the presentations continued, the seminar’s host Tekla’s Product Development Director Matti Syyrakki announced the lucky winner of a Nokia Lumia cell phone, raffled off among the participants registered by March 31. Jari Martikainen from Helen Sähköverkko Oy received his prize and was also offered assistance in setting up his new phone by Tekla’s Technology Director Kim Nyberg.

Interesting lectures continued with Elenia Verkko Oy’s Manager Turo Ihonen, who gave a speech on Smart distribution network management in practice. 
He was followed by Dirk Düster, Vattenfall’s IT-Architect of BU Distribution, who gave a presentation on Vattenfall Distribution Germany’s NIS Strategy.

Wednesday’s seminar program continued with a talk by Uwe Reich, the Head of High Voltage Grid Berlin, who told the seminar guests about the history of Berlin power supply. After Mr. Reich’s history review, the seminar guests packed into an excursion bus and drove to Energy Museum Berlin.

Official program of the first seminar day ended with a guided bus tour in Berlin. The evening was rounded off by a delicious dinner at Umspannwerk Ost, a restaurant built in a former transformer station.

The second day, thursday, started with a lecture on Analyzing network assets effectively with Tekla Spatial Analysis by Tekla’s Software Manger Teemu Heusala. He was followed by Tekla’s Specialist Jüri Loosme, who introduced the seminar guests to Management of communication network assets with Tekla Communication Networks.

Sales Manager Jukka Leppänen from Tekla gave a presentation on Tekla Feedback, a solution for intelligent and effective customer communication. He was followed by Tekla’s Technology Director Kim Nyberg, who delivered a Tekla technology future review.

The second seminar day was packed with interesting lectures. Maintenance Engineer Arto Matsinen from Fortum Distribution gave a speech on Long term planning for distribution network. The afternoon continued with Software Manager Jukka Kuru from Tekla, whose subject was Automatic fault isolation and restoration system for rural MV networks.

The seminar’s final lecture was given by Aalto University Researchers D.Sc. John Millar and M.Sc. Eero Saarijärvi. Their subject was Automatic network planning applications in Smart Grid environments. 

At the very end of the seminar, Tekla’s Sales Manager Jukka Leppänen gave a Tekla Feedback demo, before the two-day event was closed by Tekla’s Energy & Water Director Pekka Hämäläinen, who thanked the seminar guests for attending and welcomed everyone to the next customer event.
