Tekla’s attendance at the 2010 World of Concrete in Las Vegas did not go unnoticed. Even with attendance down an estimated 15% to 55,000 attendees, Tekla still had great success at this event. “We demonstrated the power of Tekla Structures to many prospective customers and there was great interest in our concrete modeling and management abilities as well as our Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities,” commented Hans Ehrnrooth, President of Tekla, Inc.
During the show Tekla’s commitment to the education community stood out. Tekla donated two licenses of Tekla Structures to the Concrete Information Management (CIM) Auction. “Our involvement with CIM and other associations in the concrete industry plays an important role in developing our product to meet the needs of the industry” says Alistair Wells, Segment Manager, Concrete. Wells, spoke about this involvement during a presentation to the CIM Board of Directors.
Tekla also attended the Tilt-Up Concrete Association (TCA) Annual Awards Breakfast. The main highlight of the annual event was the 2010 Tilt-Up Achievement and Professional Awards. A panel of 16 judges selected 28 awards recipients for this year’s Tilt-Up Achievement awards. Contratistas Civiles Y Mecanicos, a Tekla user won an “Excellence in Achievement” award for their “The Jumbo Luperon building” project.
The Jumbo Luperon building, the largest of its
kind in the Dominican Republic, has two levels of underground parking spaces with the capacity for 800 vehicles. The shopping center was built with cast-in-place concrete, Tilt-Up concrete, a steel roof deck and steel frame; all of which was modeled and coordinated in Tekla Structures.
