Tekla / Trimble Shop & Field Layout: Integration for the Steel Fabricator & Erector

What if you could take steel assembly geometry directly from a BIM model and layout the assembly in the shop with the laser precision of a Robotic Total Station? What if you could capture as-built conditions or anchor bolt locations in the field and verify with the fabrication model prior to mobilizing your crew?

All of this and more IS available with the Tekla Structures Layout Manager and the integration with Trimble Robotic Total Stations.

Don’t lose valuable time and accuracy in the shop or the field by manually scaling distances, calculating angles from drawings, turning angles with theodolites, and pulling tapes to measure distances. Take advantage of the precision of a fully detailed BIM model and the speed and precision of Trimble layout solutions.

Join us for this webinar and find out how to leverage this technology in your work to gain speed and accuracy with a solution that pays for itself in short order.

McCarthy Building Companies: Ensuring what is planned in the Building Information Model, is happening in the field

The goal at McCarthy is to be “the best builder in America” and they are using Tekla and Trimble positioning solutions to help them achieve that goal. As builders, McCarthy must understand every aspect of a project and have control over the entire construction process. Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes enable McCarthy to plan accurately in the office & deliver effectively in the field.

Join our webinar and learn how McCarthy Building Company uses Tekla software and Trimble positioning solutions to mitigate risk, manage change, and optimize the flow of model data on projects like the Kaiser Oakland Medical Center project.

By attending this webinar, uncover how to harness data from the Tekla model and utilize it in the field from maximum productivity.

You will learn how…

  • McCarthy uses Tekla software for construction and other 3D change management tools to manage and implement detailed design changes regardless of project discipline.
  • McCarthy benefits from coordinated Building Information Models in the field by leveraging the tight integration between Tekla software for construction and Trimble’s positioning solutions.
  • McCarthy uses 3D laser scanning and Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes to control quality and ensure conflict-free locations. New locations established during coordination are utilized during construction.

Central Park Tower Case Study

Click here to learn about the Central Park Tower project, a real life example of BIM and Integrated Project Delivery.  At the site you can read, download the powerpoint presentation, and watch the videos which focus on numerous approaches used by an IPD Structural Engineer and a General Contractor/Subcontractor team. The team utilized BIM as a tool to assist and improve the integrated project delivery system of an 11 story Class A office building located in Broomfield, Colorado. This resulted in cost and schedule savings on the project from using Virtual Design and Construction tools.

Companies who presented include:

  • The Weitz Company- Construction Management
  • Structural Consultants, Inc. (SCI)- Structural Engineering
  • Martino & Luth, Inc.- Cast-in-Place Concrete Detailing
  • Axis Steel Detailing, Inc.- Steel Detailing

You will learn how the project team:

  • Passed BIM models from engineering to detailing and construction
  • Achieved zero RFI's on all  of the cast-in-place foundation and 3 eleven story core walls
  • Delivered the structural steel package in half the time of a conventional delivery method
