Reactor Auxiliary Building (ACR-1000)
The RAB is a highly complex reinforced concrete structure. The RAB houses, protects and supports various unit-dedicated systems, equipment, their operators, and all necessary support systems. The RAB structure is primarily a reinforced concrete structure that meets all functional, operational, layout, fire protection, seismic, constructability, schedule and economics requirements. The RAB is approximately 115m(380’) x 115m(380’) x 55m(180’). |

Mercedes Mine
This project model consists of the crushing and milling circuit for the Mercedes Gold Processing Plant in Northern Mexico. This circuit will be processing 1,500 tons of ore per day through it's primary jaw crusher, secondary, and tertiary cone crushing. This material is conveyed to a 16.5' diameter x29'-0 Ball Mill. Fabrication drawings will be produced not only for the primary structural steel, but also the mechanical bins, hoppers, chutes, and the material conveying system. Approximately 500 metric tons of structural steel, grating, handrails, and stairs will be fabricated in this project. Additionally, there will be approximately 200 metric tons of mechanical steel fabricated from the model. Tekla Structures will be used to design and detail for fabrication, additional process areas, and ancilliary facilities such as leach tank structures, administration buildings, and maintenance buildings.
Tekla Structures was integral in the successful detailing, fabrication, and construction of this structure. Tekla Structures has allowed for an accelerated schedule and will assure fit-up and compatibility with the many vendor components. This 3D model illustrates the advantage of including all the non-structural materials and mechanical equipment in order to acheive fully integrated BIM. |

Gas Line - Utility Corridor
This model has many unique and involved connections. Tekla Structures was used primarily to integrate the structural and mechanical systems of the project together. Piping, flanges, supports, and foundations were all modeled in Tekla Structures. The large pipe is 8' in diameter and 1500ft long.
The entrant provided structural support and all associated utility piping. The overall project is 2,000ft. Total project tonnage is is 1,500 tons. |

Industrial Limestone Fine Grinding Plant
Tekla Structures proved to be a powerful tool for the conceptual design of a high calcium limestone fine grinding plant. The plant consists of an 'A-Frame' style raw material storage hall, a crushing and classifying building, raw material storage silos, a packaging and warehouse building, and various material handling components. Following minimal preliminary structural analysis for the main structures, and developing a process flow diagram with the end user, Tekla Structures was used to model the entire plant. 3D files supplied by original equipment manufacturers were imported directly into the model. The model served as a visual aid to impress potential investors for the facility, and as a valuable tool in preparing a construction cost estimate for the project. Tekla Structures was able to provide preliminary bills of material for the foundations, structural steel, building enclosures, paving requirements, and conveyor tunnels, allowing contractors to provide uniform realistic estimates for the work during the conceptual phase of the project. The model will be used as a basis for the final structural design, and ultimately in the preparation of the fabrication drawings with bills of material for the three main structures.
This model used many different aspects of Tekla Structures that substantially helped the marketing of this project. The tools used proved to be invaluable for the project as well as future ones. |

Gilmerton Bridge Replacement
The Gilmerton Bridge Replacement project is a 270' lift span for a six lane highway along Route 13 in Gilmerton, Virginia. The connections on this project were complex due to the large quantities of bolt groups at each joint and the access holes that were required in order to install them. |
