New Sandy High School, USA. Anatomic Iron Steel Detailing

The New Sandy High School is a beautiful architectural concept, with various wings of classrooms at differing elevations. The main building not only has differing elevations but also different roof heights. The varying roof profiles make the building pleasing to look at and also draw the eye around the structure displaying it's complexity.

Treehouse, USA.
Detailing Group, Inc.

This treehouse is a lifelong dream of the owner. This 125 ton building is designed to be used as a guest house. Utilizing Tekla Structures became imperative as the design contains many complexities difficult to manage. Outside of the platform framing for the houses, there are no right angles or straight edges.

Retractable Roof of the New Marlins Ballpark, USA.

Composed of over 7,000 tons of high-strength steel, the span of each retractable roof panel from rail to rail is approximately 530 feet at each lower panel and 566 feet at the upper panel. The opening created by the long span of the 45 foot deep upper panel trusses is wider than any NFL retractable roof stadium.

Lehigh Valley Technical Associates, Inc. (LVTA)

The Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA, is the seventh Levitt Pavilion nationwide, each unique to the community it represents. Located in front of the iconic steel stacks of the historic Bethlehem Steel facility, this gnarled steel complex ascends from behind the stage, twisting and turning up 37 feet above the ground below, before funneling back to the earth 100 feet off stage left.

The Poetry in Motion project is a steel sculpture in the shape of a mobius strip designed by an artist in Denver, CO. The sculpture was fabricated in Denver and installed in California. The submitting company analyzed the sculpture and also created a 3D model in Tekla Structures based on a 1:12 scale model that was created by the artist.

 

Princess Noura University - Wind Catcher Tower Interior Systems, Saudi Arabia.

The wind catcher towers at Princess Noura bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will be used as ventilation systems for open "courtyard" spaces in several buildings around the university campus. The interior of each of the 30 wind catcher towers has an operable drum at the top for harnessing wind, an internal wind tunnel and fan, and a complex turning vane system to redirect the airflow into the courtyards.

The Wilkes Barre/Scranton Airport Traffic Control Tower is a 20-sided, 80 ton steel structure sitting atop a 65' high precast concrete tower. It contains five levels of steel framing radiating from ten central columns, connected into a solid ring by fully welded moment connected beams.

California Memorial Stadium Renovation, USA.

The California Memorial Stadium is an outdoor football stadium in the University of California in Berkeley. The purpose of this project is to build the structure to support a new press box, bathrooms and concession stands on the existing historical preserved stadium.

This facility was a fast track project that required four detailers to work simultaneously to achieve the nearly impossible submittal schedule.
