SH Structures Limited specialise in the design, fabrication and erection of complex steel structures, particularly those involving a high proportion of structural hollow sections.
The new pavilion within the grounds of Alnwick Gardens features a dramatic diagrid roof finished with ETFE foil cushions. The roof and supporting structure were formed with use of a combination of steel and structural timber to give the finished curved form.
Tekla Structures was used to fully model the project and assisted greatly in the development of the complex details and connections. The completed contemporary building houses a restaurant, shop and meeting rooms and compliments the surrounding landscaped gardens that it overlooks.
