The Pinnacle Tower, Bishopgate London
The Pinnacle tower will be 288m high from street level in Bishopsgate, this equates to 305m AOD or 1000 feet above mean sea level. There will be a total of 138,000m² of gross floor area on 62 floors above ground level, 3 levels of basement plus, of course, the ground floor itself.
Between ground and level 44 the building tapers linearly, with each floor plate slightly smaller than the one below it. Above level 44 the plates cut back sequentially forming a spiral wrap profile.
The shape of the building has been developed to relate to the buildings around it and to views of the city. It will form a pinnacle and a focal point for the ‘eastern cluster’ of tall buildings in the city of London.
The steel frame consists of approximately 24,000 members weighing about 10,000 tonnes.

Bourne Engineering Limited
Castle House Wind Turbines, London
The project is a new residential development in Elephant and Castle, London. The design brief needed to embrace energy, efficiency and high quality for the future regeneration of the area. The structure is a 43 storey building projecting 147m high, mainly constructed from concrete.
The steel element of this project is the top section which houses three 9 meter diameter wind turbines within an elliptical frame design. The steel structure is designed to complement the shape of the top of the building to form a complete frame to support the cladding in line with the main building and has three circular openings. These are parallel to each other, however with the building having curved and sloping faces this causing the faces of the openings to be elliptical in differing planes to each other.
This project was trial erected on a temporary site at ground level to ensure accurate fit and to allow the frame to be reviewed by following trades to gain a clear understanding of the structure before being dismantled and erected at its roof top location.
