Congratulations to the winners of the Tekla UK Model Competition 2009! This year's competition sported some excellent entries and the voting was as close as ever. The awards allow us to celebrate both the versatility of Tekla Structures and express appreciation toward our customers work. Tekla Structures plays a great role in creating many of the complex structures seen and admired every day around the United Kingdom and indeed the world.

This year
Creagh Concrete Products took the award for the multi-material category with their model entry for the new contemporary Civic Headquarters Offices in the centre of Woolwich. The facility comprises 18,000 m2 providing civic office facilities, local service centres, a public library, business centre and public open space. The scheme will embrace the concept of the Government’s ‘better ways of working’ initiative to deliver a building which provides modern, flexible and efficient workspace, as well as inspire collaborative working and enhanced productivity.
"We are delighted to have won the multi-material award. We have been constantly improving our working methods since the introduction of Tekla Structures and are really seeing the benefits on projects such as the Woolwich Civic Centre."
Michael Dunbar, Structural Technician (projects department) at Creagh Concrete Products.

Creagh were awarded the contract for supplying hollowcore and bespoke flooring units for the Woolwich Civic Centre and quickly identified that Tekla Structures was the ideal solution for modelling this project. By importing the steel model into Tekla’s precast concrete detailing configuration, Creagh were able to ensure that each unit fitted precisely into the structure. In addition, they were able to create an “as-built” model which they could share with their client using Tekla’s Model Reviewer tool.

“It was very satisfying to hear that Creagh Concrete had won this award as it highlights the progress we have been making with Tekla’s precast concrete detailing functionality. Creagh have really embraced Tekla Structures and as a result are continuously improving the efficiency of their working processes. As we have already seen with Arup (winner of the over 150 tonnes category), it is clear that all sectors of the construction industry are really benefiting from the use of Tekla Structures BIM software.”
David Evans, Senior Sales Consultant at Tekla (UK) Ltd.
