My Place, Dream Street is a Youth Centre for 11 to 16 year olds, located in Harold Hill, London. New facilities will include art studios, exhibition areas, IT suite, a bike and motorbike workshop and sports & activity hall. The building will achieve both a BREEAM 'Excellent' and Zero Carbon rating. Energy efficiency and low carbon technologies include; wind catchers, sun pipes, high insulation values and sustainably sourced timber and building products.

Custom components improved the overall detailing time dramatically

The hybrid structure integrates both gluman timber beams and steel in structural units which have been fabricated off site. The setting out and the detailing of the purlins brought the main challenges to the job. Each and every purlin was set at a different hipped angle and so a developed custom component was used to rationalise the number of purlin brackets used, to just 10 types on the whole job. The ability to use a custom component on such a complex roof improved the overall detailing time dramatically.
