Throughout the construction project, the building information models of different disciplines need to be coordinated. Export from Revit and Export to Revit are tools for Revit and Tekla users to easily and effectively coordinate their building information models.

Tekla - Revit BIM workflow

In Revit:

• Export the whole Revit model or the Revit view content to Tekla using the
Export to Tekla tool.
In Tekla:
• Read in the exported model into Tekla as a read-only reference model.
• Use the Tekla IFC object converter tool to clone selected reference model parts into your Tekla model.
• Enrich and further detail your model in Tekla.
• Export the Tekla model to Revit using the
Export to Revit tool. This tool writes the model data in Revit compatible way.
In Revit:
• Read in the Tekla model into a separate Revit model. Save the model and link it to your Revit model. If you are reading in a revised Tekla model, do the same as above but instead of linking, save the model on top of the existing linked Revit model.
• Coordinate the models by monitoring changes using the Revit coordination review.
• After updating your Revit model, re-export it to Tekla with the same content/scope as originally using the
Export to Tekla tool.
In Tekla:
• Read in the updated Revit model into Tekla as a new version of the reference model.
• Coordinate the models by monitoring changes using the Tekla compare tool.
• Update your Tekla model accordingly.
• Export the updated Tekla model to Revit using the
Export to Revit tool.
