What is Tekla BIMsight?
Tekla Structures Web Viewer was the first tool to demonstrate your 3D model to your customers. Tekla Structures Model Reviewer was an even better application for construction project participants to benefit from the Tekla building information model. With the new 2011 version Tekla Structures 17, Tekla is now launching new freeware for model-based project communication: Tekla BIMsight.
Tekla BIMsight is
- Free BIM software available for anyone to install from the Internet
- Easy-to-access application that presents the complete project including all necessary building information from different construction disciplines
- Much more than a viewer: you can communicate using the model with anyone, not just Tekla Structures or other BIM software users
With Tekla BIMsight you can
- Combine multiple models and file formats from a variety of BIM software into one project
- Share building information for coordination between different trades and deliverables
- Identify and communicate problem areas: check clashes, manage changes, approve comments, and assign work in 3D by storing a history of different view locations and descriptions in the model
- Measure distances directly in the model to verify design requirements and construction tolerances
- Control the visualization and transparency of different types of parts in the model to make it easier to understand complex and congested areas of the project
- Query properties such as profile, material grade, length, and weight from parts

You can download and learn about this new software application at
the Tekla BIMsight
website. Video tutorials and an online user community make it easy for anyone to get started visualizing and communicating with building information models.
Stay tuned for new Tekla BIMsight releases that will include, for example, associating documentation to model objects and adding comments and redlining.
