Sebastian Wochner GmbH & Co. KG, one of the leading southern German suppliers of complex construction services for commercial investors, public authorities, and private builders, has made a strategic decision to use Tekla Structures BIM (Building Information Modeling) software in all of the company’s planning departments – from the quotation phase, to production data, to planning for the construction site and installation monitoring.
Like many companies, Wochner was faced with the challenge of optimizing and streamlining processes which had been developed over decades in production, logistics, and even planning. It became apparent that the use of a cohesive and integrated computer-aided design system is vital for the flexibility of the company.
After an intense examination of the systems on the market, the company ultimately decided on Tekla Structures. “At first we were looking for a replacement for the CAD programs we were using,” said
Martin Wochner, Managing Director of Wochner. “But then we quickly realized that we would need a lot more than just a drawing program to put our company on the path to where we want it to be. Tekla Structures is the tool that will help us transform our forward-looking ideas with regard to ecological construction into producible prefabricated parts that are free from defects for our highly automated production facilities.”
“The main difference between Tekla Structures and the programs on the German market is the way it converts all building-related data into a fully parametric and consistent 3D model. All general arrangement and detailed drawings are automatically generated by the system and always kept up to date. Tekla’s unique component technology allows each prefabricated part plant to easily change its own plant-specific standards (e.g. node details, connections, and much more) at any time and in any way, without a need to have programming skills. This makes our customers independent of development cycles and additional investments in services from software providers," said
Dietmar Bernert, Business Manager for concrete at Tekla GmbH.

Tekla Structures
Tekla's technology creates new opportunities for the construction industry. Tekla Structures, the most advanced BIM (Building Information Modeling) software on the market, provides an accurate, dynamic, and data-rich 3D environment that can be shared by contractors, structural engineers, steel detailers and fabricators, as well as concrete detailers and manufacturers. The highly detailed as-built structural models created in Tekla Structures enable the highest level of constructability and production control. Centralizing model and non-model based data into the model allows for more collaborative and integrated project management and delivery. This translates into increased productivity, elimination of waste, and an enhanced value for structural modeling. More information at
