Tekla and Construsoft are connected by 15 years of resale cooperation leading to
recent business acquisition
and most importantly to software development. Along with the latest ‘4D’ integration of Tekla Structures and ConstruSteel software, the whole fabrication process of a steel structure can be managed more efficiently than before. The 3D model can now be used to visualize the status information of, for example, stock, orders, production, transport, and quality checks in different colors.
In the Tekla 3D model, every steel part appears in the color of the status set in the ConstruSteel ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software, so that the progress of the project becomes very visual and easy to follow. In addition to the status of the stock location, the order and delivery date, order number, heat number, and even the supplier can now be shown in Tekla Structures BIM (Building Information Modeling) software.
Visual progress in 4D
Both Tekla and Construsoft are continuously developing their software products to exchange more and more building and production information in order to add ‘4D’, the time dimension, to virtual building information modeling. Explaining the process from a more technical perspective, it is now possible to enable the special ConstruSteel user attributes with a plug-in. The pre-treatment and preservations (type, layer thickness and color) can be entered on this tab. When the modeling information is being transferred from Tekla to ConstruSteel, this information will be shown in the Job Preparation section.
Next step: capacity planning integration
Integration of Tekla Structures and ConstruSteel will continue further. Importing planning information from Tekla Structures to ConstruSteel enables comparing the planning of a project with the available capacity of personnel and machines. The progress of the actual time spent is visually displayed to get feedback on to what extent planning is exceeded.
