As profit margins in the industry are still thin, Tekla believes that the economic conditions have in fact honed the competitive edge of our customers. So, it seems that we can all expect better financial results than what we have been experiencing lately. At the same time, benefits from BIM-based project cooperation are generating more and more visibility in the media, proving that our strategic efforts to promote the uniquely comprehensive Tekla BIM concept are paying off. As a result of Tekla’s continued investment in product development, 2011 will bring exciting new applications to implement BIM as a collaborative process easier than before. Tekla Structures 17 is coming soon with new splash screen and installation icons! From a construction point of view, BIM requires many software functions. To provide a wide range of improvements to your workflow, Tekla Structures 17.0 will be ready to download in February 2011, making available such things as more interoperability and better use of Tekla Open API™, enhanced model-based project communication, and improved overall user experience.

In addition to more colors available for object representation and more Windows-like functionality, Tekla Structures 17 will include better commenting, clash checking, organizing, viewing, snapping, and project managing tools. There is even more interoperability with leading software systems such as Unitechnik, BVBS 2.0, BETSY, ELiPLAN, SDI, Trimble Robotic Total Stations, ArchiCAD, and Autodesk Revit, improved DSTV import/export connection to CNC machinery, as well as certified support for using a 3Dconnexion mouse.

New icon for Tekla Structures!Displaying parts with higher accuracy and producing more customized, reliable and automatic drawings, Tekla Structures 17 will be the precursor to your next successful project delivery!

Furthermore, Tekla Structures 17 introduces a fresh new product image and installation icons for different versions and applications.

Tekla Global BIM Awards 2010 were announced on 14 December for the following three categories- Best BIM project, Best project in Steel segment and Best project in Concrete segment.  

Winner of the Steel segment category is Yugasoft, a leading edge Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) provider of CADD services to Architects, Structural Engineers, Core Industries and Fabricators, for their Chennai airport expansion project located in India. Yugasoft is the Engineering Design & Research Division (EDRD) of the premier ISO Certified construction company, Consolidated Construction Consortium Ltd. (CCCL), whose turnover exceeds INR 5 billion

On receiving this valuable award, Mr. Mahadevan. K, Head CADD BPO, Yugasoft said “We are delighted that our Tekla Model of Chennai Airport Expansion Project has won the Global Tekla BIM model competition. The modeling work was a challenging task and we appreciate the commendable co-operation offered by Tekla India team. Starting 1 January, 2011, Tekla India will be serving its customers in the East India region directly through its own sales and service representatives. This is a result of our decision to understand the needs of our customers better and to deliver highly efficient and quick service to them.

 

Tekla India, a branch of Finland-based Tekla Corporation, will offer maintenance renewal to all existing customers from the beginning of 2011. We will provide dedicated support to all Tekla software users to secure them a maximum benefit for their investment.
