Apartment house of thousands of parts and panels
Cité, located on the Kop van Zuid in Rotterdam The Netherlands is a working and living complex that includes 500 apartments, 1500m² commercial rooms and several other rooms. Its height is 85 and 75m respectively 27 and 23 floors. It is designed by Tangram and built by Ballast Nedam and Dura Vermeer. The prefabricated wand panels for Hibex were completely 3D-engineered in Tekla Structures by engineering agency Meijer & Joustra BV. The engineering included creating general arrangement drawings, pile/anchor plans and the cast-unit element drawings including material and drawing lists. 1352 panels in total (608 sandwich panels, 475 single skin panels, 145 facade panels and 124 roof panels) of 713 types. In total, 106,979 parts, 37180 cast-in embeds, and accessories were modeled 3100m3 cast unit. In addition, the core housing (2500 parts) was modeled to support the construction. A total number of 1459 element/part drawings and 98 general arrangement drawings were produced during the project.

Martinsons设计和制作了2010年上海世博会瑞典馆的入场大厅。整个展区是由四个倾斜的立方体建筑物组成,每个立方体建筑物的大小为20x20x17立方米。根据中国的建筑法规,Martinsons在场馆入场大厅的立方体建筑物上使用了一部分的胶合木材质以及钢材质进行加工安装。立方体建筑物中的横梁象征着瑞典首都斯德哥尔摩网状式的街道,所有的节点都可以分解并且可以重组到新指定的位置,这些节点都被隐藏起来以便建筑物看起来更美观。这个项目由有1-3个Tekla Structures多用户完成。

Lahden Duo, Finland

Column beam system office building
Lahden Duo is an office and commercial building located in the center of town Lahti in Finland. The building has two basement floors and six floors above. Ventilation room is located on the roof level. Frame structure is a column beam system that uses precast concrete walls as stiffeners. Analysis and design was a part of the precast concrete detailing duty. The precast elements were covered with insulation and the wall plastered with cement on site.
Errorless precast element design
All precast concrete detailing was done with Tekla Structures. The architect and structural designer did the design based on 2D drawings. Drawings were the basis of modeling and were used as references in Tekla Structures. All the elements were delivered 100% correct and no errors occurred on site regarding the element design.

Collective ideas in multi-user mode
The whole building was divided into four and completely done as one through combinations and especial copy from another model. In other words, the group worked as multi-users and created collective ideas for the final results. Architect Raed Y. Al-Rabiah, the managing director of R&Z, believes that Tekla Structures will help the company to attain their vision of a better precast system.

Station for copper ore concentrate, Sweden

Steel profiles can carry 200 tons
WSP Skellefteå has designed a station for copper ore concentrate as a part of the Aitik 36 mine project in Boliden, Sweden. The station is made for bulk transports from railway and is situated 6m below the ground surface. The groundwater level is 2-3m below the ground, and the structure is protected by tongues during the construction work. There is a conveyor belt to the next building. The building is constructed by in-situ prefabricated parts. The deck that carries the rails is reinforced with HEA 800 steel profiles to be able to carry the load of two railroad wagons of 100 metric tons each. The building information model contains useful objects like important coordinates, work areas, ground water level and connecting parts to other models.

Texas Children's Hospital, USA
Coreslab Structures
Architectural precast cladding by extension macros
Texas Children’s Hospital was Coreslab’s first architectural precast cladding project in Tekla Structures. Surfacing was used to automatically create hatches in all drawings, from elevations to connection details to cast unit drawings. Reference models were used not only to coordinate with the architect and the contractor, but to automatically represent materials other than precast in the detail drawings. The cast-in-place structure was scanned with a laser then sent to Coreslab in a 3D CAD file. They used this as a reference model to spot errors before their panels were shipped. Although their panels were segmented around the curves, they used the Radial Grids macro to generate the curved gridlines in the model and drawings. The Tekla Erector was used to track the erection sequence. The connection details were generated using the Component Manager macro. This project was completed from start to finish using only Tekla Structures software and its extended applications.
Entire structure scanned with a laser and imported as a reference model
Coreslab used the architect’s Revit model on this job. Details were created without any line work to represent window mullions. They then exported the model to the contractor to clash check the kicker angles with the ductwork and MEP in NavisWorks. Before this project, they would have had to tell him to reference 2D drawings. Coreslab had the entire structure scanned with a laser, and the results were imported as a reference model. This allowed them to catch errors before the panels were erected and make repairs in the plant. To help coordinate all of this, they also utilized the RFI manager to coordinate all the documents and snapshots that are included with each RFI.

Building precast units into steelwork model ensured first time fit on site
The new contemporary Civic Headquarters office in Woolwich, United Kingdom, comprises 18,000m2 of civic office facilities, service centers, a public library and business center. The building will support the governments 'better ways of working' initiative by providing modern, flexible and efficient workspace designed to inspire collaborative working and enhance productivity. Creagh were responsible for supplying the hollow core and bespoke flooring units. They quickly identified it was critical for them to utilize the steel model that was made available to them and were able to build their precast units into the as-built structural steelwork model ensuring first time fit on site.
