Network planning

Tekla Xpower is designed to support network management throughout a network’s entire lifecycle, starting from the planning phase. During the planning phase, the network designer can:

  • Analyze the existing network to find out weak points in the existing network or the correct feeding transformer for new connections.

  • Create one or several alternative plans for network investments.

  • Perform network calculations to ensure the correct dimensioning of the planned network.

  • Analyze the operating reliability of the planned network with reliability-based network analysis.

  • Determine the detailed material and work costs of the construction project.

  • Print out illustrative work maps and material lists for the construction teams.

To support the planning process, Tekla Xpower:

  • Uses a geographical map as a basis of all network plans. This allows the designer to focus completely on planning the network, since the system automatically creates a network model based on the network object locations.

  • Provides on-line topology coloring functions to simulate the effect of different feeding situations. This avoids the need to separately create or maintain a connectivity model.

  • Supports a long transaction method to ensure flexible management of multiple alternative plans over a long time period.

  • Supports the documentation of the cable network location by storing the exact locations of cables, pipes and cross-sections of the cable routes.

To ease the use of external consultants, secure remote access to all relevant planning data can be provided over the Internet.
